While practising yoga, each movement becomes a meditation within itself. You remind your body how to move freely. You stretch your body, enliven it, give it both softness and strength and find balance between the two. You move with awareness and unite your mind and body through the breath. This is Yoga. When you practise yoga postures (asanas) you work deeply, toning the internal organs and bringing back health and vitality to the inner body.
You find deeper levels of awareness and you may find that the practice moves beyond just the physical body into other sacred sheaths.
These sacred sheaths (or layers) are called koshas and they surround the true self, the Atman. In psychological terms, they are referenced as the emotional body, the mental body, the etheric body and the spiritual body.

When you practise yoga these sacred bodies unite and you again feel whole and free. You feel alive and intimately connected to all living beings.
The practice of yoga reminds you of the peace that lies within you. This centeredness starts to work into your external life. You can then reconnect with that feeling wherever you are, whatever you are doing -simply by the practise of being present.

In Yoga (union) you are reminded of your own abilities, your strengths, your sacredness, your truth.

Yoga is a fun and joyful experience. It lightens you.

It is through this very moment, the only place of true awakening, that your experience of yoga begins.

CLASS STRUCTURE 90 minutes

Classes are varied weekly, however in most classes you will find:

Meditation 5-10 minutes to still the mind, and deepen awareness.

Breathing exercises (pranayama) 10-15 minutes to improve cardio respiratory rate, lung capacity, and draw the mind and body in yoga (union) via the breath.

Yoga postures (asanas) 50-60 minutes to strengthen, tone, and stretch the body. A moving meditation, that greatly improves body awareness.

Relaxation (Savasana) 10-15 minutes to improve the flow of life force (prana) in the body, quieten the mind and body, and awaken pure conciousness (chitta).
