2015, the year of you!
Posted by Zoe Trenwith Yoga on April 02, 2015
As we head towards 2015 I keep hearing about all the New Years Resolutions people are going to make. More often than not those resolutions slowly fall one by one as the year progresses. Either because it was not really in line with the persons core beliefs or because there was no real plan of action to ensure the success of the resolution.
I’ve never really been one to make New Years Resolutions but a couple of year ago I made a promise to myself to do 2 things each year.
- Go somewhere I’ve never been before
- Try something new
These promises have stayed with me and have helped inspire me each year. They’ve never been a burden. Why have they been so easy to keep? Because they fall inline with some of my core values; adventure, pleasure, personal development, health and creativity to name a few.
As we move towards 2015 I’m making some more detailed plans to help me live the life of my dreams. I’m encouraging you to do the same. If not now when?
Ask yourself this question
What does MY dream life look like?
YOU have the power to create the life of your dreams.
We are conditioned to believe that the circumstances of our life determine our ability. That if we have the ‘right’ or ‘favourable’ circumstances we can be successful. We sometimes let others put limits on us.
DIFFERENTIATE WHAT YOU TRULY WANT FROM WHAT YOU THINK IS POSSIBLE.
You are not limited by your circumstances unless you allow yourself to be.
What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
STEP 1: WHO AM I?
The first step to creating the life of your dreams is to get a deeper understanding of YOU.
Take some time to sit with yourself and answer the following questions
- What are your core values?
- Who/What inspires you?
- What makes you come alive?
- What are you afraid of?
- What would I like to share?
- How do I want to inspire others?
- What am I truly committed to?
- What don’t I like?
STEP 2: MAKE A LIST
Make a list of your goals. Whether they are relationships, job, lifestyle, travel etc. As you are making your list ask yourself this question ‘if I could have it would I take it?
STEP 3: VISUALISATION
Visualise what you want and then verbalise, either internally or externally, “I choose to…”
Create a vision board or keep a journal of things that inspire you and that connect you with your goals.
STEP 4: THE OBSTACLES IN OUR PATH
“Its impossible,” said pride
“Its risky,” said experience
“Its pointless,” said reason
“Give it a try.” whispered heart
What are your limiting beliefs? We all have them. Stories we tell ourselves that keep us contracted and prevent us from truly living the life of our dreams.
Fear, self doubt and negative talk; stories of not being good enough, not knowing enough may rise its important to see them for what they are, stories, and not let them become your reality.
What are your limiting beliefs?
STEP 5: WRITE IT OUT
Having a clear plan towards achieving your goals will help keep you inspired and on track to achieving the life of your dreams.
Keep a journal or notebook with your plan written out and the steps you are going to take to get there. You can make your journal anything you want.
Personally I’m creating a journal with the following:
Why do I want to achieve this goal……
How will I feel when I achieve this goal……
How am I going to achieve this goal……
Who can help me achieve this goal……
Mantra’s and affirmations to support this goal…..
What are the obstacles/challenges that might get in the way of me achieving this goal……
How can I overcome these obstalcles/challenges……
When will I achieve this goal…..
What are mini-milestones I need to achieve to keep me on track to reaching my goal…..
What will be my reward when I achieve this goal…..
You can copy these if it resonates with you or come up with your own. Just DO SOMETHING..
Make 2015 the year of YOU!!!
