Certificate IV in Bowen Therapy

This course is designed for those people wishing to begin training in Bowen Therapy, there are no pre-requisites for enrolment. The qualification holder may work in their own clinic or in a practice with other allied health professionals, in aged care facilities, in a health service, a spa facility, or in a palliative care facility or hospital.

The course consists of two areas of study: specialisation units presenting Bowen procedures and common units of material essential to all professional therapists.

The Specialisation units consist of 7 Modules including the assessment of a student logbook and professional reflection task. Each Module is delivered over two days, with each training day considered to be 8 hours. Students have the option to select any module with any accredited trainer and they can sign up for any number of modules at a time.

The minimum time for completion of the seven modules is the equivalent of one module per month i.e., seven months. Some trainers choose to teach in 2 module sets, but these are spaced six to eight weeks apart to allow time for sufficient practice, skill development and case studies. Ideally each student should complete their modules within 7 and 10 months. The completion of the logbook and professional reflection may take longer.

The Common units are available by self paced distance education from BCNT. The subjects to complete for these competencies are: Anatomy and Physiology, Communication and Referrals, Administer a Practice, Occupational Health and Safety, Infection Control and First Aid. Students should begin study of the common units by Module 2 in their Bowen training.

When all tasks for both the specialisation and common units have been competently completed the Certificate IV in Bowen Therapy will be issued.
