Thank you from doMore

I'd like to thank you for being involved in the doMore.com.au community and the team and I hope that you've received value from being a part of it.

doMore was our original passion project born out of the desire to help connect people wanting to learn something new with experts that could teach them over 10 years ago.

Over the years we have helped almost 70,000 learners connect with one of over 1,500 courses and providers, across the country. For that, we're very proud and grateful for your contribution.

doMore.com.au also served to teach us about how to help measure and improve business performance and inspired the launch and growth of two other companies as a result, one of which we've decided to dedicate our resources and energy to making great.

We'll be switching the site off on Tuesday 31st of July. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us directly on [email protected].

Thanks again and good luck with your teaching endeavours in the future.

Warm regards,

The doMore team.

Holiday Course: Hand-building/wheel

Watson, ACT

Subject: Pottery

Holiday Course: Hand-building/wheel

Hand-building/wheel classes incorporate learning techniques from two areas of the pottery sphere. As the name suggests, hand-building involves learning different techniques to form clay into objects by hand, eg pinch pots and slab building. Wheelwork uses the potter's wheel to form the clay, the object being to pull clay into a cylinder and them form it into a pot.

About Us...

The Society was established in Canberra in 1975. Its objectives are to promote excellence and innovation in ceramics, foster appreciation of handcrafted ceramics in the broader community and encourage the professional development of its members. It is a non-profit community group run by a committee of volunteers and a part-time administrator.

The Society's premises are located at Watson Arts Centre, Aspinall Street, Watson, only 5kms from the CBD. The Centre is an ACT Government facility managed by the Society, which receives funding from the ACT Government.

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in pottery. Benefits include a monthly newsletter, use of wheels and equipment at drop-in sessions and in our members' workshop, kiln hire, discounts on classes, discounts at some pottery supply retail outlets and locker hire. There is an extensive library for the use of members.

Regular workshops conducted by professional potters are held throughout the year, as are regular members' events.

Day and evening classes are run for adults, and after-school, Saturday and school holiday classes for children. Special interest classes, e.g. glazes and kiln firing, are also offered.

A selected exhibition of members' work is held annually.

Our resident potter and workshop manager is Chris Harford who specialises in stoneware and porcelain tableware.

In 2003, CPS received funding through the 2003 Regional Arts Fund Program* to mount a touring exhibition of regional ceramics and conduct an information-support needs survey of regional potters.

In 2004, the Society received funding through the same program to run a series of pottery workshops in Queanbeyan and Tuggeranong.
