Is sailing expensive?

Sailing is not an expensive sport. You don’t need to own a pool to go swimming and you don’t need to own a boat to go sailing. Crewing is inexpensive, with many keelboats needing 3 to 5 crew to sail, so skippers are always happy to have a helping hand, once participants have had a few lessons and know the basics.

Would I like sailing?

If you want to try sailing, to see if you like it, there are ways to have a go without any major financial commitment. Your nearest sailing school can help with an inexpensive ‘taste’, hands- on sailing experience.

Can anyone sail?

You do not need to be fit or able-bodied to sail, as there are such a variety of boats to cater for everyone. If you cannot swim, then we recommend that you sail on a keelboat. These have more stability and don’t tip over. Sailing schools generally won’t sail, if the wind conditions aren’t safe

Our ‘learn to sail’ instruction rates start at $25.00 per hour per person * with that you get to sail a boat and learn how to sail, that’s cheaper than going down to the local water way and hiring a yacht, catamaran or windsurfer and be left to fend for yourself.
*Based on a 4 hour / half day session.
