Tango is a dance you create in the moment with another person. It isn't about memorized steps that go together the same way every time. This is one of the beautiful aspects of tango and one that makes the dance endlessly interesting.

Argentine Tango remains an improvisational and intimate social dance. An aesthetic, cultural and instinctive world of mystery, beauty and energy.

"Basic Tango"
Casual attendance basis.
No need to book and no need to bring a partner.

"BASIC TANGO"
The Basic Tango Classes commence at 7.00pm sharp on both Mondays and Wednesdays

and covers a syllabus of techniques, which create the basis of all tango dancing.

Monday 7.00pm - 8.00pm
Wednesday 7.00pm - 8.00pm

Group classes are $17/$12 per person

Sidewalk Tango is the dance company and studio of internationally renowned performers David Backler and Dianne Heywood-Smith.

It is a boutique studio specializing in teaching and dancing “Tango Argentino”.

Classes are held in “Salon” “Milonguero” and “Tango Nuevo” stylisations, with all due credit and respect given to the history and culture of the milongueros of Buenos Aires .

Sidewalktango organise for dancers to participate at three different levels:

1.Classes and Workshops: for learning the craft and technique of Tango

2. Practicas: the informal social dance practice where the real learning begins
3. Milongas: the ultimate expression of the tango social dance culture (see “Tango Noir” on home page)

David and Dianne have also been working in corporate entertainment together for seven years, performing with their dance and cabaret act “The Dry Martinis”. They have performed in theatres, clubs and festivals around Australia, and overseas including Korea, Singapore, Spain, France, UK, Argentina, China, New Zealand.

In 2009 they toured their show to Buenos Aires, including performing at the famous Sunderland, “La Milonga del Mundo”
