Introduction
Course 2 Composition and Creative Imaging is the extension to course 1 in the beginner level programs. This course concentrates on the creative and compositional development of each individual's photography. Utilising the skills and technical knowledge gained in course 1, the student begins to use the elements of light, composition and design principles to enhance their imagery beyond beginner level and gain a greater understanding of their photographic potential.

Course 2 is prominently a practical instruction course supported by quality course materials and practical shooting assignments.

Learning Outcomes

Understand the influence of light quality and direction
Use their foundation knowledge to create beautiful night images and control light exposure
Use the rules of composition and design principles when creating their images
Have a qualified understanding of colour and colour theory
Pre visualise images and work through the key elements of a quality image.

Timetable

Week 1 Light theory and light direction
Week 2 Composition, design and colour principles
Week 3 Practical light and composition
Week 4 Night city shoot workshop
Week 5 Presentation and review of images

Teaching Strategies
Course 2 is delivered via a series of 5 x 3hour evening classes 6:30pm-9:30pm. Each class is held on the same evening over 5 consecutive weeks and consists of practical hands on instruction, some theory and open critique and discussion of assignment work. The open critique is a valuable learning tool. The tutor has the opportunity to appraise your photography discuss the positives and negatives and provide the advice and tools to improve the image. The open critique enables students to view classmates work and gain ideas and inspiration. Collaboration on assignment work is highly encouraged.

Facilities and Equipment Requirements
Course 2 is delivered from professional photography studios and predetermined photographic locations. The tutor will present each class using visual aids and hands on demonstrations.
Students are required to have a DSLR camera, lenses and their camera manual. A tripod and a lens hood are required for this course. Each student has a login to our learning management site. The student utilises the site to download their course workbooks, upload their assignment submissions, enter the regular competitions, check site news and events and update their course calendar.

Assessment
Assessment is conducted through review of weekly assignments. On successful completion of course 2, students will be awarded a certificate of completion and invited to enrol for intermediate level course 1 On & Off Camera Flash.

Entry Requirements
Students will have successfully completed course 1 or be able to prove sufficient capacity to undertake this course.
