Training Tip: Don’t Let Cold Weather Sabotage Fitness Goals
Training Tip Dont let cold weather sabotage fitness goals

If you train outdoors and struggle to keep up your training during the colder months, heed the following advice.

Most people don’t relish the prospect of spending time outdoors if it’s cold or raining, but giving up your regular fitness program during the colder months can be disastrous to your long term goals – keeping to a regular fitness program is one of the keys to maintaining good health.While everyone's tolerance to the cold is different, you can implement a few small changes to ensure that you don’t stop all together;

Combining different forms of exercise and different routines will keep your training fresh. By mixing things up a little you’ll ensure your routine doesn’t become monotonous – and will thereby reduce your likelihood of pulling the doona up on a wet morning instead of going for your morning run.

When seasons change, so does your wardrobe. This goes for your training clothes as well, so treat yourself tonew workout gear. There are plenty of options when it comes to insular clothing these days, which has made it possible to spend longer periods of time in cold temperatures while the body remains warm and comfortable.

Stick to a routine. It only takes 21 days to form a habit so plan out your weekly training in advance and stick to it! Once you’ve formed a routine it will be harder to break regardless of the excuses!

And, most importantly, remember the more you move in the colder months, the more you burn. So train hard this winter and be ready for summer!
