12 Days of Christmas Fitness, Day 2: Deck The Halls

Posted by juggernautPT on December 16, 2012

My 12 days of Christmas, Day 2: Deck the Halls. With Christmas right around the corner, my thoughts today wandered to those families that go all out on the lighting displays for their houses, you know the ones there's alway's a few in in every city.

Every year they go “big” with a tree, wreaths, synchronised lights, candles, signs, statues and ornaments.  It’s gotta be a lot of work but when it is all done their houses are beautiful and the lights and now their soundtracks work in sync

As I watched a clip of these houses on you-tube and admired the finished product, I thought how it would be to set-up. If it was me I would work to a small initial goal and then step back and admire the progress...too much to fathom otherwise...

Then I thought, that's exactly what I do, except I do it with my 'temple', my own body.

"Bahahaha 'temple :)"

Even though It is great to have a vision of the finished product in mind, it's very gratifying to see the fruits of your labour take shape.

It's like that for me with fitness, each time I look in the mirror (which can be a lot) and see progress as a result of my programs, I become more encouraged and motivated and jump right back in to start working toward my next goal.

When it's all finished, the completed project (me) was even more amazing then I envisioned.

Yup even “Deck the halls” reminded me of the process of becoming fit.  Just like decorating, getting in shape and reaching our fitness goals requires hard work, dedication and discipline.

At times the process can be both exciting and fun as well as overwhelming and frustrating.  It’s in times like these that we need to step back and take a look at how far we’ve come.  Examine the progress that’s been made and be proud of your accomplishments.  You may not be where you want to be….YET, but you are closer then you were.  And before you know it, you’ll look and see a completed project that is even more amazing then you envisioned!

P.S. I'm just putting the finishing touches to my Christmas Charity Project, which I can't wait to tell you about!! A guide which will not only stop your body resembling a certain bearded icon this christmas, but it will also help other people have a merrier silly season. Stay tuned...
