Karen has been practicing yoga and meditation since 1999, and after giving up her corporate career to answer her calling, she became a full-time yoga instructor in 2001. She loves to work with people and continually strives to help her students reach their fullest potential whether it is physically, mentally or spiritually.

Karen’s first qualification was the Yoga Instructors’ Certificate Course conducted by the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation (sVYASA), which is affiliated with the India Yoga Institute in Bangalore. In March 2004, Karen successfully completed a Yoga Therapy course conducted at the Krishnamarcharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM) in India, Chennai which is founded by the world renowned TKV Desikachar. Shortly after, Karen also completed an advanced Hatha Yoga course also at the KYM.

In addition, Karen has attended classes with Pattabhi Jois, founder of the world-renowned “Ashtanga Yoga” system in 2002. Pattabhi Jois is also a long-time student of Krishnamarcharya.
Karen also has great interest in working with Pre and Post natal women as well as children of all ages. Karen’s constant thirst for knowledge has led her to take up the reputable Polestar Mat Pilates instructor course in 2008 and is now teaching Mat Pilates as well.

In May 2008, Karen sold off her Yoga studio; Yoga Heart which she ran successfully and migrated to Adelaide looking to share her vast teaching experiences. She lives in a beautiful seaside suburb with her gorgeous 3 years old daughter and her supportive husband.
