Lyceum Language Centre began in 1991 when Rosalba, who had been teaching Italian since 1979, gathered together a number of small groups of enthusiastic students, and successfully helped them pursue their goals in learning the Italian language.

Classes were so successful that within a year, with the assistance of her husband Andrew (also a qualified language teacher), the school had grown to include courses in French, Spanish, German, Japanese and Chinese.

All courses were run with the same key principles in mind:

* all teachers were native speakers,
* all groups were small and
* keen attention was given to the delivery of a quality service.

Since then, along with their staff of approximately 50 teachers and 6 administrative assistants, Rosalba and Andrew, the Directors, have been actively and personally running Lyceum, building up to a total of 4 centres in the inner city of Melbourne, and catering for 1000 or more language students per term.

Lyceum Education Centre Pty Ltd operates two divisions:

* Lyceum Language Centre, teaching LOTE at Queen Street in Melbourne CBD, North Fitzroy, Kew and Malvern
* Lyceum English Language Australia, teaching English as a Second Language at Queen Street, Melbourne CBD
