Diploma of Visual Art
This course is the nationally accredited CUV50111 Diploma of Visual Arts.
In this course students will be introduced to and develop a wide range of key conceptual and practical skills enabling them to produce art and design folio work in a range disciplines from drawing, painting, sculpture, studio, photography and digital imaging whilst also engaging in art theory and professional development.
The course aims to enable students to graduate from the course with an extensively developed folio of artwork that will help them start an exhibiting practice as artists or to go onto further higher level specialist study in a broad range of fields art, design, photography, teaching, museum conservation, exhibition curating, art gallery assistance, animation, illustration, and more.
Students will have the advantage of small group tutorial based classes, ongoing tutorial advice, intensive individual nurturing, exhibition practice within the LaTrobe College Gallery, and to be able to work with professional artists and university experienced tertiary teachers of art.
To add to students exposure to contemporary art practice they will be given the opportunity complete a drawing unit with Latrobe College in New York or Venice, during the Venice Biennale, during the second semester break.
