The training is mandatory for all people carrying out gaming duties or tasks in licensed venues, including:
- eligible licensees
- gaming nominee licence holders
- gaming employee licence holders and
- any staff (licensed or unlicensed) carrying out gaming tasks, ie issuing or revoking exclusion orders regarding problem gamblers.

Through completion of the Unit SITHGAM006A, this course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to:
1) Provide responsible service of gambling
2) Provide information and assistance to customers about problem gambling.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is essential for any level of personnel involved in the sale and service of gambling activities in licensed premises, including the Licencee, Gaming Supervisors, Managers or Attendants involved in operational gambling activities.

If you are employed on or after 1 October 2010, you must do the training within 3 months of starting work.

HOW THE COURSE IS DELIVERED
The course is delivered in 4-5 hours by an OLGR approved trainer in a classroom environment. Assessments are completed in class, enabling you to receive your certificate on the day.

Onsite classes can be arranged for group bookings, minimum numbers apply. Contact Axiom College.

Topics covered:
• Appropriate communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with customers identifying problems with gambling and requesting self-exclusion
• Indicators of problem gambling
• Responsible gambling service procedures, especially self-exclusion and exclusion procedures and the role of individual staff members, supervisors and managers in providing responsible gambling services
• The reasons for, and impact of, gambling problems
• How to interpret documents, such as signage, general information and brochures; industry or regulatory codes of conduct; in-house policies and procedures; and regulatory and advisory information issued by local, state and territory gambling licensing authorities.
• The chances of winning and probability as they relate to the gambling activities of the enterprise.
• Public interest reasons for implementation of responsible service of gambling practices
• Principles of harm minimisation and strategies to reduce harm associated with problem gambling
• The profile of the gambling industry
• The role of government, industry and the enterprise in providing responsible gambling services
• The content of problem gambling information provided by the enterprise
• Counselling services available and referral procedures.

AWARD
Successful participants will receive a Statement of Attainment and Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR) Training Certificate.

Axiom College also offers new staff from interstate the opportunity to complete a bridging module where they can produce a current statement of attainment for the nationally accredited SITHGAM006A Provide responsible gambling services.
