Chinese Grammar-How to Distinguish “把” Sentence and “被” Sentence

“把”字句VS“被”字句

S.++O.+V.+something

This sentence is emphasize object. Because of an action, the object has changed, and has produced results. Subject here can be omitted.

Something include “了”、“result”、“N.

例句:小狗把面包吃xiǎo ɡǒu bǎ miàn bāo chī le

      The dog ate the bread.

      我把作业做了。wǒ bǎ zuò yè zuò wán liǎo

      I have finished my homework.

      他把自行车借给了。tā bǎ zì xínɡ chē jiè ɡěi wǒ le

      He lent me his bike.

PS: The verb here must be a real action, such as “打”、“拿”、“做”、“吃”,

Can not use “喜欢”、“愿意”、“知道”、“觉得”this kind of verb.

S.++O.+V.+something

This sentence is emphasize passive. Because of a behavior or action, the subject has changed, and has produced results.

Object here can be omitted.

例句:面包被小狗吃了。miàn bāo bèi xiǎo ɡǒu chī le

      The bread is eaten by the dog.

      作业被学生做完了。zuò yè bèi xué shenɡ zuò wán liǎo

      The homewok was finished by the students.

      自行车被他借给我了。zì xínɡ chē bèi tā jiè ɡěi wǒ le

      The bike was lent me by him.

PS: The verb in the “被”sentence is the same as the verb in the “把”sentence.
