DEFENSIVE CAR DRIVING - 1/2 DAY

THE COURSE AT A GLANCE
The course aims to increase the safety of car drivers and decrease vehicle running costs through the application of defensive driving practices.

DURATION
Four hours, consisting of 2 hours theory and 2 hours, one on one practical driving instruction

CLASS SIZE
Up to 20 participants are trained in the theory session.
The practical driving instruction is delivered one on one.

TARGET GROUP:

This course is specifically designed for company car drivers. It aims to improve the safety of car drivers by providing the knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable drivers to adopt a defensive approach to driving and thus minimise the risk of involvement in a motor vehicle collision. The course also teaches techniques to minimise the running costs of motor vehicles

The course assists companies to meet OH&S duty of care obligations for those employees required to drive company vehicles.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

All learners must hold a current Car Drivers Licence.

A DECA Certificate of Attendance and Driver Evaluation Report will be issued to each participant, with a copy provided to the driver's company.

· Low risk driving techniques
· Driver attitude and driving risk
· Tyres
· System of safe vehicle control
· Safe following distances
· Night driving techniques
· Braking and stopping distances (including ABS)
· Supplementary Restraint Systems (airbags)
· Managing driver fatigue
· Effects of drugs and alcohol

This course is designed for delivery at client premises, with a group theory session, followed by one on one driving instruction delivered in the car usually driven by each driver.
