Course Aims. This course aims to provide for the beginner with little knowledge of computers. It is designed to have the participant become familiar with the computer hardware and software and learn the basic skills to get started with personal computers and includes an Introduction to the Internet and Email.

System: The course will be taught on computers using Windows XP and Office 2003

Course Objectives: On completion of this course the participant will be able to:
~ Demonstrate an understanding of the computer, its history and operation, its hardware and software.
~ Access and work with some 'Windows' applications
~ Understand the role of word procssing software
~ Perform simple operations using Microoft Word, such as producing a letter.
~ Access and work with discs, files and folders.
~ Discard fils and folders into the recycle bin
~ Connect to the Internet
~ Demonstrate a basic undertanding of the Internet
~ Effectively search for information on the Internet
~ Work with simple email operations, such as composing and replyng to emails

Method: Will take the form of hands-on working with a series of exercises.
