Course description
This course helps students build the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in a wide range of areas within the private and public sectors. It adopts a problem-focused approach that helps students develop the important problem-solving and decision-making skills relevant in any business. The highly-flexible program includes an exit point at Diploma level (see the Diploma in Business). Depending on campus, majors include accounting, business economics, financial planning, financial management, human resource (HR) management, international business, macroeconomics, management, business information systems, marketing, and sustainable resource management.

Course structure
Students complete a core of ten foundation subjects, providing fundamental skills and knowledge in accounting, macroeconomics, microeconomics, management, information systems, commercial law, sustainability in global business or climate, sustainability and society, business statistics, finance and marketing. Students also complete at least one major or two minors in business, and further subjects in additional majors, minors or elective areas. Outside majors may include a language or other pre-approved sequences. Students have access to four international study tours - marketing, international business, human resource management and international accounting.

Scholarships
Applicants who are Australian citizens or who hold permanent humanitarian visas are eligible for a range of University-wide scholarships, including Commonwealth Scholarships.

Middle Band
Completion of Business Management, Accounting or Economics facilitates an additional aggregate point per study, to a maximum of 2 points. Performance in prerequisite studies and Business Studies (any) is considered. Consideration is given to Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) criteria. In addition, a regional bonus may apply.

Extra requirements
Non-Year 12 applicants must complete and submit a VTAC Pi form for work experience to be considered.

Prerequisites
VCE Units 1 and 2: General Mathematics or Mathematical Methods (either); Units 3 and 4: study score of at least 25 in English (ESL) or 20 in any other English.
NSW HSC: Year 11 Mathematics and satisfy Year 12 English requirements.

Semester starts
Semester 1 and 2 (March and July)

Career opportunities
Graduates are prepared for careers in the management of large, medium and small businesses, with career opportunities in the government and private sectors, both domestic and international. Areas include corporate and organisational management, small business management, marketing, management, human resource management and international business.

Professional recognition
Human Resource Management graduates can seek admission to the Australian Human Resource Institute (subject to relevant work experience). Marketing graduates are eligible to join the Australian Marketing Insitute or the Australian Market and Social Research Society as associate members. Depending on majors, graduates may also be eligible for membership of CPA.
