About Four Wheel Drive Victoria

Four Wheel Drive Victoria is the peak body representing four wheel drive interests in the State.

Adopting the mantra of "Driving in a sustainable environment" Four Wheel Drive Victoria has established itself in the modern four wheel drive environment having regard to the interest of protecting the land in which we tour, supporting the communities through which we travel and contributing to the State's economic wealth to the extent of over $100 million dollars annually.

Victoria contains some of the best four wheel driving in Australia and is the only state that can offer a diversity of four wheel drive tracks that encompass experiences ranging from desert to snow.

It is no coincidence that Four Wheel Drive Victoria also maintains excellent and ongoing relations with the state's land managers and plays an active part in ensuring that tracks are used in a way that minimises any negative impact from four wheel drive use.

The Association is the umbrella body for all affiliated four wheel drive clubs in Victoria, and represents the interests of all recreational four wheel drivers in the state. It is presently made up of some 74 clubs which in turn have a membership totalling six thousand subscribed members representing four wheel drive enthusiasts and their families.

Each affiliated club is invited to have a say in how the Association operates through regular meetings, contact with the elected committee, or assisting on the various supporting sub committees.

Operating from a staffed office in North Balwyn, the Association represents almost every active four wheel drive club in Victoria and the number of clubs is growing constantly.

Training:

Four Wheel Drive Victoria is the peak four wheel drive body in Victoria and a founding member of the national body,
Four Wheel Drive Australia. National Training Certificates of Competency will be awarded.
FWDV represents 80 clubs in Victoria and more than 15,000 members.

Why you need four wheel drive training:
Four wheel drive vehicles have some amazing capabilities compared to an ordinary car. They offer you
travel and recreation opportunities that would otherwise be impossible.

However four wheel drive ownership comes with a greater responsibility than usual. Special knowledge and skills are required to help you minimise environmental impact and risk whilst maximising your recreational opportunities.

The Victorian Four Wheel Drive Course:
Four Wheel Drive Victoria has over thirty years of driver training experience. We are a registered training organization offering a range of accredited programmes in addition to driver training.

Our courses suit both beginner and experienced drivers and are held at convenient locations not far from Melbourne. Instructors are fully trained and experienced in all popular four wheel drive makes and models as well as new electronic vehicle technologies.
